iPod~Singing Aloud

Posted in Yoelson's posts, Our Photos at 4:06 pm by Yoelson

Yesterday Kensal Rise in North West London was hit by a Tornado. Thankfully no one was killed, but some people suffered injuries. There was some damage to cars and many houses had the roofs ripped off by the 140mph wind. When we heard the news we knew that this latest weather phenomenon would have many people pointing their fingers at global warming. We were correct, there are lots of stories in the papers today mentioning this subject. The U.K. was hit by another Tornado a while ago in Birmingham. However I am of the same opinion as those that say, ‘one Tornado does not a climate make’. In the winter of 1703 thousands perished in similar weather. Queen Anne went into the cellar of St James’s Palace for safety, and the winds rolled up the lead on the roof of Westminster Abbey like parchment. Things change, that’s the way of the world. We have damaged the planet, some might say we deserve all of the problems we are facing today. Not Tornadoes, but we often get severe winds here, and today is a dull and very windy day. Chaucer and I don’t like the wind, or the rain, probably because last year the river that flows in front of our house flooded, it happened so quickly, we were very scared. Chaucer and I always feel lethargic on days like this. We felt too lazy to do anything today, which was fine by me, I was more than happy to relax and listen to some of my favourite music on my iPod. Actually it’s not mine it belongs to Laura and Richard, but what’s theirs is mine, and what’s mine is theirs (not that I own anything they would want), or as I prefer to think, everything is mine. The iPod is old but it plays my music so I am happy, I don’t need to have the latest version of every gadget available. Although I would if money was not an important factor, I think I get that from Richard, he likes buying lots of gadgets. Chaucer and I both like gadgets too, we enjoy playing with the computer, the camera, and the video camera. Chaucer didn’t mind me hogging the iPod all morning, he was happy reading, although I think I put him off by singing along loudly and out of tune to Eminem, Black Eyed Peas, and Snow Patrol. Chaucer can remove his paws from his ears now, I’ve finished my sing along session. This post is all over the place, un~BEARable one might say. I only meant to post a short ramble about our lazy day. Singing is a thirsty business, time for some orange juice for Chaucer and me.

Scrabble Genius

Posted in Yoelson's posts, Our Photos at 2:37 pm by Yoelson

I wanted to show Chaucer how clever I am, so I challenged him to a game of Scrabble. Between us we managed to spell out the words The World in Focus, but none of our tiles were linked, I think we may have gone wrong? It’s a shame because the loser was going to make us a Teddy Bears picnic, and I was really looking forward to Chaucer doing all of the cooking for a change. I know we will master this word game soon, so it won’t be long before Chaucer is serving me some delicious food. For now I’m off to make some tea, water is all well and good, but nothing can satisfy like a nice hot cuppa.

Teddy Bears Picnic

Posted in Yoelson's posts, Our Photos at 3:06 pm by Yoelson

We had just finished our lunch when the doorbell rang, Chaucer and I were surprised by a visit from a couple of our friends. It was very nice to see them, we all enjoyed a lovely long chat and lots of coffee and chocolate, a mini Teddy Bears picnic. Apparently women talk far more than men, I don’t know if that’s true, although Laura never shuts~up (poor Richard), but us Teddy Bears enjoy a good chat too. Our friends stayed for a couple of hours, and although we liked having them here we were pleased when they left, because we like to have the house to ourselves (we don’t mind sharing with Laura and Richard). All that talking made our mouths dry so I think I will go and squeeze some fresh lemons into a couple of glasses of water, that will quench our thirst nicely.

What is our Life?

Posted in Chaucer's posts, Our Photos at 2:46 pm by Chaucer

Yoelson and I were feeling lazy today so we decided to relax and read some books. After a while we started chatting about poems, we like this one by Sir Walter Raleigh, so we thought we would add it to todays post. All that reading has made us very thirsty, time for some refreshing green tea.

Life

What is our life? A play of passion,
Our mirth the music of division,
Our mother’s wombs the tiring-houses be,
Where we are dressed for this short comedy.
Heaven the judicious sharp spectator is,
That sits and marks still who doth act amiss.
Our graves that hide us from the setting sun
Are like drawn curtains when the play is done.
Thus march we, playing, to our latest rest,
Only we die in earnest, that’s no jest.

Sir Walter Raleigh

The MacBook

Posted in Chaucer's posts, Our Photos at 3:03 pm by Chaucer

I haven’t felt like writing anything recently, still don’t so this will be short. Laura and Richard want another computer, they would like a MacBook, they don’t like sharing their PowerBook. Yoelson and I would also like them to buy another computer, we don’t like having to share with them. Worse than us having to share is the fact that they always leave the computer up high, it’s like they don’t want us to use it. It’s either up on the desk in the office, or sitting on the dining table. Either place is hard for us to reach easily, why can’t they leave it on the floor for us? It’s hard for me to climb up, and then I have to help Yoelson up onto the chair, sometimes being the eldest twin is hard work. Yesterday was a warm sunny day with temperatures in the 20’s, today is a dull chilly day, so I’m off to make some hot chocolate to warm us up.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Posted in Chaucer's posts, Our Photos at 4:50 pm by Chaucer

There has been lots of information about the health benefits of Omega-3 fatty acids lately. I think I will try and get some for myself and Yoelson, we like to make sure we stay healthy. Apparently Omega-3 can help in a wide variety of conditions, such as Heart Disease, Alzheimer’s, Colorectal Cancer in men, and now scientists think it may be useful as an anti-obesity agent, the DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) may suppress the development of fat cells in vitro, which could lead to a reduction of body fat. It seems to us that humans are obsessed with their bodies, why don’t they just eat a varied healthy diet and take a little daily exercise? That’s what Yoelson and I do, we love to think up new and tasty recipes to cook when Laura and Richard aren’t watching. We also really enjoy jumping up and down on the rebounder, it’s great fun. Time to go, Richard has just made Laura some green tea, so I will see if I can sneak some for Yoelson and me.

Cooking Spaghetti

Posted in Chaucer's posts, Our Photos at 4:50 pm by Chaucer

Whilst Laura and Richard were out we decided to cook some lunch for ourselves, we made spaghetti bolognese. The sauce was on a low heat simmering for 5 hours, it was delicious, lots of tomatoes, onions, garlic, mushrooms, and some cured meat for added flavour. We were really hungry by the time the sauce was ready to eat, but it was well worth all the waiting, it was delicious. After we had finished eating we were so full we could ‘bear’~ly move, so we didn’t, we just snuggled up together and enjoyed a long nap. Now I think it’s time for a refreshing cup of fennel tea.

Euro Millions

Posted in Chaucer's posts, Our Photos at 3:16 pm by Chaucer

The huge euro millions jackpot has finally been won, after rolling over for many weeks. It had reached €180,000,000 ~ Wow. As no single ticket won the jackpot it was divided between 20 people who each get roughly €6,000,000 each. Not a bad Christmas present, we don’t celebtrate Christmas but we would have raised a glass or two if we had won. I say we, but obviously it would have been Laura and Richard who would have won, surprisingly they don’t let Teddy Bears play the lottery. Yoelson and I had hoped that Laura and Richard would win because they had said that they would move to Monaco. I know they would have definitely bought a property with a swimming pool, and Yoelson and I both love to swim. Oh well, there’s always next week. I am going to go and commiserate now and comfort myself with some chocolate.

Perpignan Freedom

Posted in Yoelson's posts, Our Photos at 11:52 am by Yoelson

Laura and Richard went out early this morning to Perpignan. We wasted no time in having some fun, we decided to test drive the remote controlled truck. Chaucer jumped in the back whilst I manned the remote control, he was whizzing round all over the lounge. It was excellent fun, until Chaucer turned a rather unflattering shade of green. Time to stop and make a nice gin and tonic.

Eureka ~ We’re Online!

Posted in Chaucer's posts, Our Photos at 11:20 am by Chaucer

After close observation for many months, keeping our eyes and ears open to everything Laura and Richard have said and done, we are confident we can have our very own blog. This is so exciting for us, (I know we need to get out more), but that’s just the point we can’t get out more because we are Teddy Bears not people. Hopefully we won’t make too many mistakes with our spelling and grammar, although there are bound to be some as the computer keyboard is not really the ideal size for our paws. Fingers crossed, make that paws crossed we will cope with everything. That’s all for now my tummy is rumbling, I’m off to get a snack of tasty almonds.
