Russian Spy Poisoned

Posted in Chaucer's posts at 3:14 pm by Chaucer

Alexander Litvinenko, a former lieutenant colonel in the FSB, the successor to the KGB, and viciferous critic of President Vladimir Putin, has been moved to intensive care as his condition worsens. It is reported that the ‘Kremlin ordered the hit’. Doctors have confirmed that he was poisoned, Scotland Yard are investigating the attack, while his friends insist that he was poisoned by the Kremlin in an attempt to kill him. I doubt we will ever know the truth behind this story, but being poisoned may not be his only health concern. He is after all being treated in an English hospital, not exactly the best place for good health, and I don’t just mean the food. Yoelson say’s he is hungry so I am going to make him some pancakes.

V.I.P. Weekends

Posted in Chaucer's posts at 2:28 pm by Chaucer

Yoelson and I are television addicts, we sit very still so that Laura doesn’t realise that we are more than just stuffed Teddy Bears. One of our new favourite programmes at the moment is called V.I.P.Weekends. It is presented by Ian Wright, and as the title suggests he spends his weekends with various people. He travels all round the World for this, what a tough job. So far this series we have seen Ian visiting the home of Hong Kong songbird and screen beauty Karen Mok, she is one crazy lady and full of energy. Ian had fun when he crashed one of her fashion shoots, enjoyed a karaoke session with her, and provided a voice for an animated animal in a movie. Next we saw Ian in Udaipur India, he was a guest of honour to Princess Bhargavi and the Royal Family of Mewar, one of the world’s oldest serving dynasties. Ian played polo, and cricket with the Prince’s cricket team, and attended a Royal birthday party. They seemed like a very down to earth family, and Ian must have thought so too because he gave the Prince a gold spray painted cod piece as a birthday present. Tonight Ian will be spending the weekend with Lord and Lady Carnarvon at Highclere Castle in the beautiful English countyrside. He will learn how to handle a gun, whilst a butler tends to his every need, and he will be wined and dined in luxury. It sounds just like here at home, Richard waits on Laura always bringing her drinks and cooking delicious food for her. Speaking of food I’m off now for some cake.

Perpignan Freedom

Laura and Richard went out early this morning to Perpignan. We wasted no time in having some fun, we decided to test drive the remote controlled truck. Chaucer jumped in the back whilst I manned the remote control, he was whizzing round all over the lounge. It was excellent fun, until Chaucer turned a rather unflattering shade of green. Time to stop and make a nice gin and tonic.

Junk Food Adverts Banned?

Posted in Chaucer's posts at 5:21 pm by Chaucer

Maybe Yoelson and I should stop watching so much television, especially news programmes. It is all quite worrying. Yesterday we saw a report about a ban on junk food adverts. Apparently it is supposed to help with the escalating problem of child obesity in Britain. Rubbish! As if not screening junk food ads will solve the problem. People that do eat and want to continue to eat nasty junk food will do so, whether or not they are bombarded with adverts. We think more energy should be spent on education, because there are lots of people who say that it is too expensive and time consuming to cook healthy meals, which is just not true. As with a lot of things in Britain this new idea is very half hearted. Apparently the ban will be between the hours of 6pm and 9pm, which is when young children watch most television, according to the report. During the earlier hours when childrens television programmes are on there will be the usual junk food adverts. Wouldn’t it be a better idea to tackle the food industy, if they produced better quality food without the large amounts of salt and sugar and other cheap ingredients, the average parent who says they are too busy to cook wouldn’t be giving their children such an unhealthy diet. Oh no the government couldn’t do that could they, the food industry is too big and powerful. So as a result of this new advert ban, child obesity in Britain declines … I don’t think so. Mmm junk food, the thought of it makes me hungry, er no, I am off to get myself and Yoelson an apple.

Wedding of Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes

Posted in Chaucer's posts at 5:20 pm by Chaucer

Yoelson and I are very excited about the latest showbiz wedding, Tom Cruise is marrying the lovely Katie Holmes in Italy. I think Laura and Richard are quite interested in the news coverage of this wedding too, because they enjoyed a wonderful holiday in Bracciano a few years ago, and now they are getting to see Bracciano again. We have enjoyed looking through Laura and Richard’s photo albums, and the pictures of the villa they stayed at in Bracciano look really nice. I remember reading the travelogue on their trip to Italy, and I wish we had been taken to Bracciano with them, but I will forgive them as we weren’t actually born at that time! The wedding of Tomkat, as the news seems to like calling them, is being held at The Castello Orsini-Odescalchi. I think a medieval lakeside castle is a great place for a wedding, so magical and romantic. Apparently it is haunted, that sounds like lots of fun, ghost hunting along the corridors. I wonder if any of the famous friends of the happy couple will get spooked? I know you can’t believe everything you read or everything you hear, but apparently the wedding is costing over 2 million euros ~ nearly $3,000,000. Other reports are saying that Katie Holmes will be wearing a Giorgio Armani designed dress, and Tom Cruise will also be wearing Armani. Not surprisingly the local home owners in Bracciano are trying to cash in too. They are said to be charging up to 30,000 euros for people to take advantage of the views from their property over the wedding day activity. The mayor of Bracciano, Patrizia Riccioni, is also making a nice profit by reportedly charging journalists 1,000 euros for positions overlooking the castle, and a further 300 euros to park their satellite trucks. Yoelson and I have been watching some of the news coverage on sky, we like seeing all of the celebrities. So far we have seen, David Beckham, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez, Brooke Shields, Will Smith, and obviously Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. It’s all so exciting, I keep imagining how happy Katie and Tom must be feeling. Maybe Yoelson and I should go and make some confetti and have our own celebration, as our invite obviously got lost in the post, maybe not, it will make such a mess and Laura and Richard are at home today. Speaking of whom, I think I can hear them coming so I will sign off for now. But not before quickly typing, Congratulations to Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, may they enjoy a very happy long life together. Now we fancy some wedding cake, I guess we will have to make do with a jaffa cake instead.

Crazy World

Posted in Chaucer's posts at 5:09 pm by Chaucer

Yoelson and I have been watching a lot of T.V. I know it’s not that good for us, the idiot box rots the brain, but we like it. There is so much weird stuff on it, absolutely mad, and that’s just the News! I remember a couple of days ago a story about how some prisoners were going to be awarded compensation for being forced to be clean from drugs, what a weird world we live in. That’s just one story that springs to mind, there are so many others. Like Saddam Hussein being sentenced to die for crimes against humanity, how come he gets punished whilst other leaders do not? How come America are allowed to have weapons of mass destruction whilst other countries are not? It is because America is considered a stable country, run by a decent President? That’s just laughable, GWB is clearly a lunatic, and that’s not just my opinion, lots of my Teddy Bear friends think the same. Blair is no better, but what can we expect from these two leaders when America and Britain are two of the World’s top arms dealers. They talk about weapons of mass destruction meaning bombs, but we think that the World’s favourite killing machine the Kalashnikov AK-47, is the true weapon of mass destruction. Oh Tony how you have let us down, and to think Laura and Richard sent you a postcard from their visit to Malawi. That’s enough about that for now, time for food, porridge sounds like a good idea.

Photography

Posted in Chaucer's posts at 5:08 pm by Chaucer

Our eyes were becoming very boggled from the computer screen so we thought we would have a go at taking some more photographs. Laura and Richard have been messing about taking lots of photo’s and video lately, I think it must be catching. It’s been a lot of fun, so maybe we will try and make our own video soon too. But now we are both tired so we will go off for an afternoon nap but not before a well deserved snack, maybe some raisins.

Why This Blog?

Posted in Chaucer's posts at 5:06 pm by Chaucer

The main reason we wanted a blog was because we were feeling left out, it seems that everyone has a blog now. We’d read about them, we’d heard about them on the television news, and Laura and Richard were talking about blogging, so we thought we should have our own blog too. I thought, how complicated could it be? I talked to Yoelson about it, and between us we seem to have figured it all out. We are a bit nervous though because we are quite clumsy, and we mustn’t damage the computer because then Laura and Richard would notice, and they might realise that we are not the usual breed of Teddy Bear. We are very different, we have extra special powers. We can move and talk and do everything that humans can, well almost everything. Driving the car proved to be a more complicated task that we thought it would be, but more about that another time. Right now it’s time for a refreshing cup of green tea, because alcohol and driving do not mix.

Who Are We?

Posted in Chaucer's posts at 5:00 pm by Chaucer

I am Chaucer (the fair one), and Yoelson (the dark one) is my brother. We are Teddy Bears, brothers, fraternal twins ~ non identical. I am definitely the oldest though, by a whole two minutes. We live with Laura and Richard who are both humans. Actually, when she first wakes up Laura doesn’t fully resemble a human being, it takes her an hour or two before she is at her best. Richard is always at his best, always happy and laid back, Laura says that’s because he has the pleasure of living with her. We live in a beautiful little village in the South of France where we have lots of fun, mainly when Laura and Richard are out or not looking. I don’t think they know what we get up to as we always try to clean up after ourselves, because most of our fun seems to leave the house in an obvious state of chaos. It’s hard work and very messy all this having fun. It’s time for a drink now, I’m off to put the kettle on.
