Yoelson and I have been very busy today, we’ve swept up lots of leaves that have fallen from the huge plain trees that stand just outside our front door. Then we tidied up all of Laura and Richards plants, before finally giving the terrace a good sweep. It all looks lovely and clean and tidy outside now. We like Autumn, we like the wonderful shades of browns, oranges, and reds as the trees and plants change colours, we don’t like the cold weather though. We were very tired after all of our hard work, and very pleased with ourselves. We think Teddy Bears are Great. We are much better than men because … well, here are a few reasons …
Teddy Bears are easy to look after.
Teddy Bears can hug indefinitely.
Teddy Bears never get you into trouble.
Teddy Bears always listen.
Now to celebrate how great we are, I’m going to pour myself and Yoelson a nice glass of red wine, Cheers.

We had just finished our lunch when the doorbell rang, Chaucer and I were surprised by a visit from a couple of our friends. It was very nice to see them, we all enjoyed a lovely long chat and lots of coffee and chocolate, a mini Teddy Bears picnic. Apparently women talk far more than men, I don’t know if that’s true, although Laura never shuts~up (poor Richard), but us Teddy Bears enjoy a good chat too. Our friends stayed for a couple of hours, and although we liked having them here we were pleased when they left, because we like to have the house to ourselves (we don’t mind sharing with Laura and Richard). All that talking made our mouths dry so I think I will go and squeeze some fresh lemons into a couple of glasses of water, that will quench our thirst nicely.

Yoelson and I were feeling lazy today so we decided to relax and read some books. After a while we started chatting about poems, we like this one by Sir Walter Raleigh, so we thought we would add it to todays post. All that reading has made us very thirsty, time for some refreshing green tea.
Life
What is our life? A play of passion,
Our mirth the music of division,
Our mother’s wombs the tiring-houses be,
Where we are dressed for this short comedy.
Heaven the judicious sharp spectator is,
That sits and marks still who doth act amiss.
Our graves that hide us from the setting sun
Are like drawn curtains when the play is done.
Thus march we, playing, to our latest rest,
Only we die in earnest, that’s no jest.
Sir Walter Raleigh

I haven’t felt like writing anything recently, still don’t so this will be short. Laura and Richard want another computer, they would like a MacBook, they don’t like sharing their PowerBook. Yoelson and I would also like them to buy another computer, we don’t like having to share with them. Worse than us having to share is the fact that they always leave the computer up high, it’s like they don’t want us to use it. It’s either up on the desk in the office, or sitting on the dining table. Either place is hard for us to reach easily, why can’t they leave it on the floor for us? It’s hard for me to climb up, and then I have to help Yoelson up onto the chair, sometimes being the eldest twin is hard work. Yesterday was a warm sunny day with temperatures in the 20’s, today is a dull chilly day, so I’m off to make some hot chocolate to warm us up.

I am fed up of the people on various different websites moaning about the incorrect use of grammar. Their inane, obtuse, sardonic comments merely express their egomania. Yes I agree that it would be nice if every single post on the internet were spelt correctly, with perfect grammar, but is is really that serious an issue? Isn’t it more important that people can express their opinions freely without being disparaged. Depending on my mood these moaning minnies don’t always infuriate me, they do make me laugh too. I am laughing at them and not with them, why, because the vast majority of them are American, what exactly do they know about correct English grammar? I don’t think grammar is intrinsically linked to intellect. Richard has a very very high I.Q. and he ‘can’t spell for shi’te’.
Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn’t mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny ipmortnat tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.
I shouldn’t let this concern me, it’s really not important compared to many other things in life. Using correct grammar does not make one person better than another.
I feel better after that rant, and although correct grammar would make reading posts a more pleasant experience, I think a World without famine, rape, murder, and war, to name just a few things, would be my first choice for a better life for all.
Bad grammar aside, thinking about everything that’s wrong with the World I now feel depressed, so I think I’ll get myself and Chaucer a large glass of red wine or two.

Both Yoelson and I are very interested in green living. We would like to build our own home one day, it’s not that difficult, I don’t know why more people don’t self build. It causes me sleepless nights when I think of all of the polution caused by so many buildings in Britain, they are the equivalent of gas guzzling 4 x 4’s with sun roofs. What we need is lots more planet saving architecture, Yoelson and I have been storing some lovely big strong cardboard boxes, we will soon be living the green dream. Why don’t humans concentrate on the planet saving holy grail, building zero carbon emmision dwellings, we think the cardboard box is a good place to start. With energy prices set to double over the next 10-15 years, time is running out. Most buildings today are far bigger polluters than air travel, which puts things into perspective. Why is it that for example, people who drive 4×4 vehicles are considered a serious threat to the environment? What about HGV’s? We are more than happy to do our bit for the planet, such as recycling most of our household waste (papers, tins, cans, bottles etc), and we use low energy lightbulbs, and we wash clothes at a low temperature, we feel we do all of the recommended things, but why it is the man in the street (or Teddy Bear) that is being asked to save the planet? What about the polution caused by ‘big business’, why are they not being forced to help? Is it because the government would lose large amounts of revenue, and is it because the man in the street is the soft target, I think so. It feels as though European citizens are making a real effort to lower polution, which is good. But I don’t think it will be enough unless China and American, who cause substantially more damage to the environment than the whole of Europe combined, decide to make this issue their top priority, which I don’t think is likely. What people really need to do is stop building those awful new housing estates, and only build green from now on. It makes sense, they are cheaper to purchase and cheaper to run, what’s not to like? Most importantly these green buildings won’t aid the death of our planet. Speaking of recycling I think I will go and sort out another lot for the bottle bank. Maybe I will make Yoelson and I something to drink first, orange juice I think.

There has been lots of information about the health benefits of Omega-3 fatty acids lately. I think I will try and get some for myself and Yoelson, we like to make sure we stay healthy. Apparently Omega-3 can help in a wide variety of conditions, such as Heart Disease, Alzheimer’s, Colorectal Cancer in men, and now scientists think it may be useful as an anti-obesity agent, the DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) may suppress the development of fat cells in vitro, which could lead to a reduction of body fat. It seems to us that humans are obsessed with their bodies, why don’t they just eat a varied healthy diet and take a little daily exercise? That’s what Yoelson and I do, we love to think up new and tasty recipes to cook when Laura and Richard aren’t watching. We also really enjoy jumping up and down on the rebounder, it’s great fun. Time to go, Richard has just made Laura some green tea, so I will see if I can sneak some for Yoelson and me.

Today I am mostly feeling sad, it’s mainly because of the weather, it is a dull dull day. I don’t know why but I always forget just how very low I feel whenever the sun is not shining.
There is so much I want to write about today I don’t know where to start. But here are some stories that caught my eye.
There’s the story about how the healthy eating lobby is affecting the pie eating championship. Apparently the rules have changed from competitors gobbling as many pies as they could in three minutes, to whoever can eat a single pie the fastest, and horror of all horrors a vegetarian option has been added.
The story about Egypt’s top Muslim clerics distancing themselves from the practice of female circumcision. Long story short, the religion does not need it.
The story about America and Colombia signing a trade deal. A multi-billion dollar free trade agreement, which will supposedly be a great tool for the US in it’s fight against terrorism and drug trafficking. Last year trade between the two countries reached an estimated $12bn.
The story about the call for FTSE Farepak pledge from MPs. MPs have urged Briatin’s top 100 firms to donate a day’s profits to the fund for the victims of the collapsed Farepak Christmas savings scheme. Apparently the fund reached the £5,000,000 barrier. The target is £10,000,000 to help the 150,000 people who are estimated to be effected by the collapse.
The story about the row over mixed sex wards in hospitals. Surprise surprise the government has failed to meet its promise to scrap mix sex wards in NHS hospitals. Surely this is the least of the worries concerning the NHS?
The story about the major DNA differences in humans. Scientists have now said that the genetic code between individuals varies far more than they previously thought. Of 270 people tested they indentified vast stretches in their codes were duplicated or even missing.
The story about European cities being flooded with heroin. European cities will face higher numbers of heroin overdoses as Afghanistan’s record opium crop floods in.
The story about the thousands of people attending the funeral of murdered anti-Syrian politician Pierre Gemayel in Lebanon. The cathedral in Beirut was surrounded by a sea of flag carrying people.
The story about gunmen raiding the Iraq health ministry. The gunmen attacked the ministry in Baghdad which resulted in heavy gun battles with the guards. Apparently over 30 gunmen tried to take over the building.
The most destressing story must be the one about the ban on cheap internet booze. Euro judges have banned it, so now people will have to continue to purchase their grog on booze cruises. Well Chancellor Gordon Brown will be happy, it has plugged a £3 billion hole in his tax plans.
I love the news, it’s so cheerful. Why can’t people just be nice to each other? The dreary weather and all these news stories did nothing to lift my mood. I was hoping to find an uplifting story, but I had no luck.
So I will tell you a bad joke instead.
Q:How do you hire a teddy bear?
A:Put him on stilts!
Told you it was bad, now I am off to make a nice warming cup of tea.

Whilst Laura and Richard were out we decided to cook some lunch for ourselves, we made spaghetti bolognese. The sauce was on a low heat simmering for 5 hours, it was delicious, lots of tomatoes, onions, garlic, mushrooms, and some cured meat for added flavour. We were really hungry by the time the sauce was ready to eat, but it was well worth all the waiting, it was delicious. After we had finished eating we were so full we could ‘bear’~ly move, so we didn’t, we just snuggled up together and enjoyed a long nap. Now I think it’s time for a refreshing cup of fennel tea.

The huge euro millions jackpot has finally been won, after rolling over for many weeks. It had reached €180,000,000 ~ Wow. As no single ticket won the jackpot it was divided between 20 people who each get roughly €6,000,000 each. Not a bad Christmas present, we don’t celebtrate Christmas but we would have raised a glass or two if we had won. I say we, but obviously it would have been Laura and Richard who would have won, surprisingly they don’t let Teddy Bears play the lottery. Yoelson and I had hoped that Laura and Richard would win because they had said that they would move to Monaco. I know they would have definitely bought a property with a swimming pool, and Yoelson and I both love to swim. Oh well, there’s always next week. I am going to go and commiserate now and comfort myself with some chocolate.
